Frequently asked questions

Refuelia is a free map of fuel stations and EV chargers, worldwide. It uses map data from OpenStreetMap, official sources and reports from signed-in drivers. You can see nearby stations, their fuels, connectors and opening hours. Where we have them, you also see recent availability and prices. How it works explains where each part comes from.

Yes. The map and all core features are free. There is no subscription.

No. You can browse the map, search for stations and read what is known without an account. You can also confirm with one tap that a station has fuel. You need a free Google sign-in only to post a price, a comment or a review, rate a station, confirm opening hours, upload photos or build a contributor reputation.

Sign-in helps us cut spam and stop duplicate or abusive reports. Your public contributions may show your chosen profile name and avatar. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Depending on the permissions you approve, Refuelia may receive your Google account identifier, display name, email address and profile photo. Your email address is not shown publicly.

Your public display name and profile photo may appear next to your comments, reviews and reports. Your email address stays private.

Yes. Ask for deletion in your account settings (My profile → Privacy & account settings), or email [email protected].

From two sources. OpenStreetMap tells us where the station is. Signed-in drivers report what is happening there now. Prices come from official feeds where a country has one, and from drivers elsewhere. Refuelia never invents availability, prices or reviews. See How it works for the details.

OpenStreetMap is updated all the time by its community. New reports show once they are sent and processed. How often data changes depends on the source. Open or closed is worked out from each station's opening hours and your device clock.

Not always. Prices come from official government open data where a feed is connected, and from driver reports elsewhere. Each price shows when it was reported, so you can see how fresh it is. Prices change often. Treat them as a guide and check at the pump.

Prices differ by source, by how recently they were reported and by fuel grade. Stations also change their prices often. When a price is old, Refuelia shows when it was last updated.

The map loads real fuel stations and EV chargers from OpenStreetMap for the area you are looking at. Tap a station to see its details, opening hours, fuels or connectors, and anything else we know. Zoom or search a city to load stations elsewhere.

We show only stations that are in OpenStreetMap. In some areas the map data is sparse. You may also need to zoom in for stations to load. If a station is missing, anyone can add it on OpenStreetMap, and it will then appear on Refuelia.

Only to centre the map on you and show the nearest stations. Your location is used in your browser. It is not sent to or stored on our servers. You can say no and search a city or address instead.

Garages, tyre shops, oil-change centres and car washes that are mapped in OpenStreetMap. Use the Service & repair filter on the map, or the Services page, to find them near you.

From OpenStreetMap, like everything on the map. Opening hours and services show where someone has mapped them. Refuelia never invents them.

Set the map filter to Service & repair, or open the Services page and search your area. Tap a marker to see its hours and services, where known.

EV chargers mapped in OpenStreetMap. Where it has been mapped, we show the connector type, such as CCS, Type 2, CHAdeMO, Tesla/NACS, GB/T or Type 1 (J1772).

Switch the map filter to EV chargers to show only chargers. Refuelia does not receive live status from charging networks. Each charger shows connector and power details from map data, and a driver report if there is one. Both show their source and time.

A public message board where drivers share what they see right now: queues, prices, closures, working chargers and open garages. Anyone can read it for free. Open it from Driver messages in the menu.

Anyone can read the chat for free. To post a message, sign in with a free Google account. This keeps people accountable and cuts spam.

Yes, after posting. Messages are public once posted and are screened automatically at that point. They can be reviewed or removed later. We remove personal details and illegal, hateful or spam messages, and block repeat offenders. See our Community Guidelines.

Plan a trip, and Refuelia shows fuel and charging stops along the way. You can choose where to refuel or charge without leaving your route. Open it with the Route tab on the map.

Refuelia puts real stations on your route, with dated prices where we have them. So you can pick a cheaper or better-placed stop instead of guessing. You choose. Refuelia just shows what is there.

Confirming a station takes one tap and no account. You need a free Google sign-in only to post a price, a comment or a review, so a named person stands behind those. Open a station and use Confirm or Report to say whether there is fuel and how long the queue is.

Sign in with Google, open a station and add a comment. Comments tell other drivers what to expect.

When several signed-in drivers confirm the same thing, confidence goes up. Refuelia shows how many confirmations there are and how recent they are. Reports that conflict are flagged, not hidden. See How it works for the details.

As little as possible. To limit repeated requests, we store a hashed value of your IP address and the date, never your raw IP. If you sign in with Google, we store your Google account identifier, display name, email address and profile image. We use them to run your account and show your contributor profile. Your email is never shown publicly. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Yes. When you are signed in, you can delete your account and its personal data from your profile menu. Or email [email protected] to ask for deletion. Some contributions may be anonymised instead of removed, where they are needed to keep station information accurate and complete.

Essential cookies and local storage keep the site working (theme, language, saved stations). Analytics and advertising cookies are used only if you agree, enforced with Google Consent Mode. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with Manage Cookie Preferences in the footer.

Use Report incorrect data in the footer, or the report option on a station. For map details like a wrong address or brand, you can also fix it on OpenStreetMap. The fix then reaches Refuelia.
