Chiang Mai is served by PTT, Bangchak, Shell and PT stations along the Superhighway ring and the airport corridor. Gasohol blends rule the pumps, and the mountain roads north reward full-tank starts. Burning-season haze (Feb–Apr) affects air filters and visibility more than fuel supply.
Local tips
- Fill before mountain loops (Samoeng, Doi Inthanon, Mae Hong Son); stations thin out fast.
- E20 is widely available and cheaper if your car accepts it.
- During burning season, expect reduced visibility on rural fuel runs.
Only 50 of the 195 stations mapped in Chiang Mai say whether they sell diesel. The rest probably do; nobody has recorded it. See Chiang Mai on the map →
