A closed forecourt at the end of a detour is a bad surprise. Here's how to check a station is open before you commit to the drive.
Posted hours are a starting point, not a guarantee
Most stations list opening hours, and Refuelia shows them with a clear Open now / Closed badge based on the posted schedule and your device's local time. That's the first thing to check — but posted hours are what a station intends, not always what's true on the day. Holidays, staffing, deliveries and outages all override the schedule.
Look for a recent driver confirmation
This is where live reports earn their keep. If another driver was there twenty minutes ago and the pumps were running, you have real evidence, not just a timetable. On the map, recent confirmations sit alongside the posted hours. The more recent and the more confirmations, the safer the bet.
24-hour stations aren't always 24 hours. Many switch to pay-at-pump-only overnight, and some close the shop while the pumps stay live. If you need the shop, air, or a specific payment method, check the details, not just the "open" badge.
Watch for break and reopen times
Smaller stations, especially in rural areas, take midday or evening breaks. Refuelia surfaces "on a break — reopens at…" where that data exists, so you can time your stop instead of arriving during the gap.
When in doubt, have a plan B
If the only evidence is an old posted schedule with no recent reports, line up a second station nearby before you set off. The live map makes this easy — you can see alternatives in the same view. And when you get there, confirm the status so the next driver doesn't have to guess.
