Circle K stations, and how many are counted

Across Scandinavia Circle K is the name that replaced Statoil on the forecourt, and a large share of its sites are unmanned automats rather than staffed shops. That difference is the one worth knowing before you arrive.

Counted, not estimated

Across the 213 cities Refuelia counts, at least 155 forecourts are tagged Circle K in OpenStreetMap, in 5 countries. At least, because only the six commonest chains of each city are stored — a Circle K that is seventh in its city is not in this number.

Counted from OpenStreetMap · 19 August 2026. Refuelia has no relationship with Circle K and shows no prices it has not been given by an official feed. A brand tag is also not a promise the forecourt is open: where a driver has checked recently the map says when, and where nobody has, it says that instead of guessing.

Automat sites are card-only, and the map can say so

OpenStreetMap has a self-service tag, and Refuelia now reads it. At two in the morning in Norway the question is not which brand it is but whether anybody is there and whether your card will work — and a site that says "unattended" answers half of that before you set off.

Old branding still on the map

Rebrands take years to reach every tag. Where a forecourt is still recorded under a previous name, it is counted under that name until a mapper updates it. Refuelia follows what the map says rather than guessing at what it meant.
