For most of its history Pemex was the only brand a Mexican driver ever saw. Since the energy reform other names have appeared, and many forecourts that still carry the Pemex sign are run independently.

Across the 213 cities Refuelia counts, at least 135 forecourts are tagged Pemex in OpenStreetMap, in 1 countries. At least, because only the six commonest chains of each city are stored — a Pemex that is seventh in its city is not in this number.

A brand tag is also not a promise the forecourt is open: where a driver has checked recently the map says when, and where nobody has, it says that instead of guessing.

The sign and the operator are not the same thing

A franchised network means opening hours, payment methods and how the site is run are decided locally. That is exactly why this map reads them off each forecourt rather than applying one rule to a brand — two Pemex stations a few streets apart can genuinely differ.

No official price feed covers Mexico

Prices are published nationally rather than per station, so no Mexican forecourt on this map carries a live figure. Where a driver reports one it appears with their timestamp and is labelled as a driver report, not an official price. The distinction is the point.

Does the map show Mexican fuel prices?
Not per station. There is no free official per-station feed for Mexico, and a national number printed beside a specific forecourt would read as that forecourt’s price.

Is this Pemex’s official finder?
No. Refuelia has no relationship with Pemex. The data comes from OpenStreetMap.
