MOL is a central European network spanning several countries and several languages, which makes it a good example of why this map counts a chain rather than a country.

Across the 213 cities Refuelia counts, at least 50 forecourts are tagged MOL in OpenStreetMap, in 5 countries. At least, because only the six commonest chains of each city are stored — a MOL that is seventh in its city is not in this number.

A brand tag is also not a promise the forecourt is open: where a driver has checked recently the map says when, and where nobody has, it says that instead of guessing.

One chain, several markets, different data

None of the countries MOL operates in publishes per-station pump prices, so no MOL forecourt on this map carries a live price today. What the map does hold is the same everywhere: which grades, which hours, which payment methods, and when somebody last checked.

Fuel cards matter more here than most places

Central European long-distance drivers run on fuel cards, and OpenStreetMap records which ones a forecourt accepts. Until recently Refuelia dropped every one of those tags on the floor — the payment list was filtered through a short allow-list and anything unlisted vanished. It now shows all of them.
