Texaco appears on this map mostly across Britain, Ireland and the United States, very often on independently run forecourts that carry the brand rather than sites the company operates.

Across the 213 cities Refuelia counts, at least 48 forecourts are tagged Texaco in OpenStreetMap, in 2 countries. At least, because only the six commonest chains of each city are stored — a Texaco that is seventh in its city is not in this number.

A brand tag is also not a promise the forecourt is open: where a driver has checked recently the map says when, and where nobody has, it says that instead of guessing.

A brand on a sign is not an operator

On a franchised network the opening hours, the grades and the payment methods are set locally and vary between two sites a few miles apart. That is precisely why the map reads them from the tags of each individual forecourt rather than applying one rule to the whole chain.

What Britain publishes, and what it does not yet

The United Kingdom introduced a statutory fuel price scheme in 2025 under which retailers must report price changes within thirty minutes. Refuelia does not yet read it — the feed requires registered API credentials — so no British forecourt here shows a live price today. Saying that plainly is better than a page implying otherwise.

Why do two Texaco sites show different hours?
Because they are often run by different operators, and OpenStreetMap records each one separately.

Will UK prices appear later?
Only once the official scheme is properly connected. Until then the page shows no price rather than a stale one.
